Sailboats on the lake, salsa on the courtyard, the World Cup on the big screen, and a Juneteenth weekend to remember. June in Riverside has a lot going on — here's what's worth your time.
Blink and it's June. The evenings stretch out, the windows stay open, and Riverside has filled up with things worth doing. This month in Riverside, that means sailboats on Lake Evans and an early morning run club that makes 6:30am feel worth it, a World Cup on the big screen and a yoga mat rolled out before the rest of the neighborhood wakes up. It means Juneteenth weekend with back-to-back programming that honors the occasion and invites the whole community in. It means a five-year-old at a reptile show, a dog in the backseat on the way home from the shelter, and Robin Williams on an outdoor screen on a warm Friday night.
We put together this guide the same way every month — not to list everything, but to offer a sampling of what's going on around town this month. Something for the planner, something for the spontaneous, something for the Saturday you didn't see coming. Take a look, mark your calendar, and get out there.
June 7 — Vinyl & Rides
Pull up a chair on the RAM rooftop and let the records spin. Vinyl & Rides kicks off the Free Summer Sundays series at the Riverside Art Museum — a collaboration between RAM and The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture. Three local DJs bring the sounds; you bring the Sunday afternoon energy. It's the kind of afternoon that feels like it belongs in a photograph: warm air, good music, and the city below you. June admission is free, so there's no reason to stay home.
June 7 — Riverside Historical Society June Meeting
You might not expect Riverside and Helsinki to have much in common — but Dr. Vince Moses is here to make the case. The Riverside Historical Society's June meeting centers on a compare-and-contrast of Arts & Crafts architecture, tracing the design lines between our own Mission Inn and local bungalows and Finland's Finnish Jugendstil movement (also known as Art Nouveau). Come for the history, stay for the conversation. Meetings are free, open to everyone, and start with a social hour — a rare chance to actually talk to the people who know this city's story.
June 19 — Songs of Freedom: Music of Resistance & Joy
In recognition of Juneteenth, the Civil Rights Institute Inland Southern California and The Black Arts Museum are hosting a full day of free programming exploring the powerful role of music in Black history. From 11am to 2pm, arrive early for exhibition viewing, a Kids Craft Corner, and a scavenger hunt. At 2pm, Empower You Edutainment takes the stage for a live performance. It's community, culture, and celebration all in one afternoon — and it's all free.
June 26 — Jumanji (1995) — Movies on the Lawn
Are you game? Riverside Heritage House brings the classics back to the lawn this summer, and June's pick is the 1995 Robin Williams adventure that haunted a generation. Rampaging rhinos, giant spiders, and a board game you really don't want to open — Jumanji holds up. The screening also connects to the current Heritage House exhibition, A Victorian Naturalist: Riverside's Butterfly Man, on view through June 28. Grab a snack from the Snack Shack (cash only), settle in on the lawn, and roll the dice on a great Friday night.
June 6 — California Adopt-a-Pet Day at Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center
One day. Waived fees. A shelter full of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens who need a home. California Adopt-a-Pet Day is a statewide event, and Mary S. Roberts is Riverside's local anchor — with adoption counselors on hand to help you find the right match, and all pets spayed, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before they leave. Same-day adoptions are welcome; just bring a valid photo ID and proof of residence (renters, check your pet policy). Browse available pets in advance at petsadoption.org, and come ready to fall in love.
June 6 — 2026 Riverside Regatta
Sailboats on Lake Evans in the late afternoon — it's one of those things that reminds you why you live here. The Riverside Community Sailing Program and Riverside Parks, Recreation & Community Services Dept. present the 2026 Riverside Regatta, a three-race Sabot fleet exhibition featuring donors, students, and council members. It's also a fundraiser for the SummersCool Sailing Lessons program. No ticket needed to watch, and the setting at Fairmount Park is hard to beat.
June 15–17 — Wildlife Encounters: IE Kids Outdoors Summer Camp
Set in the shaded groves of California Citrus State Historic Park, Wildlife Encounters gives kids ages 3–12 three mornings of hands-on nature education with experienced naturalists. They'll learn to use binoculars, track animals, spot birds, and slow down long enough to actually look at the world around them. Daily yoga sessions round out the schedule with mindfulness and movement. And Monday opens with a bang — The Reptile Hunter kicks off camp with a full exotic reptile show. Registration is $150; a $25 materials fee is due on the first day.
Every day — Free Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Kristin & Kim
This practice is not sold. It's shared. Kristin and Kim offer daily Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga classes rooted in the intelligence of the Primary Series — breath-centered movement, mindful adaptation, and zero pressure to perform. All bodies, all backgrounds, all experience levels are genuinely welcome. Bring a mat if you have one; community props are available. Wear comfortable layers and bring water. The practice runs on voluntary giving, and what you receive here was made possible by those who gave before you. Drop in any morning and see what shows up.
Every Friday — Cafe Oro Run Club
If you've been looking for a reason to make running a habit, the Cafe Oro Run Club might be it. Lacing up at 6:30 on a Friday morning sounds like a commitment — until you're out there with a good group and the city still belongs to you. Follow Cafe Oro Dos Aztecas on Instagram for weekly updates on where they're meeting and where they're headed.
June 6 — Sonero at Farm House Collective
Salsa, cumbia, and más. Sonero brings the Latin rhythms to Farm House Collective for a free evening that's equal parts dance floor and community gathering. Whether you know every step or you're figuring it out as you go, this is the kind of night that earns its place on the calendar — warm music, an open courtyard, and no cover charge. Get there and let the music do the rest.
June 13 — The Altons: Show You Love Tour
The Altons bring their Show You Love Tour to the Riverside Municipal Auditorium for a Saturday night that's worth dressing up for. Known for their rich harmonies and soulful sound, The Altons deliver the kind of live performance that lingers. The Municipal Auditorium is one of Riverside's great venues — and a show like this is exactly what it was built for. Note that the balcony is accessible by stairs only, and everyone ages 3 and up needs a ticket.
June 20 — Soul Service: Juneteenth Celebration at Farm House Collective
Farm House Collective marks Juneteenth weekend with Soul Service, an evening of live music and community that's become one of the most anticipated events of the summer. Featuring Vinyl Williams, the night carries both weight and joy — which is exactly the spirit of the occasion. Pair it with Songs of Freedom the day before at the Civil Rights Institute (June 19), and you've got a Juneteenth weekend worth remembering. Tickets are on sale now.
June 27 — Dustbowl Champion at Farm House Collective
Close out the month with Dustbowl Champion at Farm House Collective. It's a strong live music send-off for June — the kind of show that ends with you wishing the night wasn't over. Tickets are on sale now; grab them before the weekend fills up.
June 12, 19 & 25 — World Cup Watch Parties presented by Riverside Pro Soccer
The FIFA World Cup is here, and Riverside Pro Soccer is making sure you don't watch it alone. Three watch parties across the month — two at Route 30 Brewing Co. and one at The Barn at UCR — bring the US team to the big screen with free admission and the energy that only a crowd of fans can bring. Mark your bracket and pick your spot.
June 25 — Trivia Night Benefiting Homeless Pets
Think you've got what it takes? Trivia Night at Thompson Brewing Company benefits the animals at Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center — so your competitive streak is actually doing some good. Round up your team (up to six people), put your knowledge to the test, and take your shot at first-place bragging rights. There's also a raffle for those who prefer their wins by luck. $15 per person gets you in the game.
July 7 — Vixen & Beard Bingo Night
15 rounds of standard bingo, 5 bonus rounds, food and drinks included, and a coffee pop-up from Honey Flower Espresso to keep things going. Vixen & Beard's Bingo Night is a community gathering as much as it is a game — and at $15 with limited space, it fills up. Grab your ticket now so you're not on the outside looking in come July 7.
