Art, Lights, and a Festive Night
Celebrate Riverside’s vibrant art scene with free gallery access and a special photo show, all while taking in the magic of the Festival of Lights.
The November 14th event includes a curated 5-course meal.
Merrill Avenue between Riverside and DeAnza is constantly changing. Not much has survived the last few years, from smorgasbords and plate-smashing Greek restaurants to drive-through convenience stores and bicycle shops. There isn’t much left for the nostalgist to celebrate. Market Broiler, the company, has grown and changed dramatically since 1989, when it opened its first of many locations here in Riverside. Still, the Merrill Avenue institution has outlasted all the renewals and upgrades of the three and a half decades it has been there.
Market Broiler Riverside is celebrating its 35th anniversary with a special tasting dinner on November 14. This event is the capstone of a series hosted across California locations and features a carefully curated five-course menu. Executive Chef Robin Higa crafted the tasting experience, highlighting a selection of Market Broiler’s signature dishes with fresh, sustainable seafood and other fine ingredients. Each course will be paired with cocktails or wine selected by sommelier Emma Lyall.
The Market Broiler Riverside’s 35th-anniversary tasting menu is a carefully designed five-course meal, highlighting fresh, vibrant flavors with an upscale twist. Here’s a breakdown of the courses:
1. Sushi Trio: The first course brings an exciting combination of textures and flavors:
2. Roasted Baby Beet Salad: The second course features baby arugula, candied pecans, goat cheese, and blood orange vinaigrette, offering a delightful balance of earthy, sweet, and creamy flavors.
3. Seared Diver Scallops: For the third course, the seared scallops rest on a smooth corn purée and are accompanied by a pork belly succotash, bringing a rich and savory depth to the dish.
4. Slow-Braised Angus Short-Rib & Butter Poached Lobster: The main course is a luxurious pairing of tender short-rib and lobster, with truffle mash, baby fall vegetables, and a Cabernet reduction to bring out rich, complex flavors.
5. Chocolate Flourless Cake: The meal concludes with a flourless chocolate cake, drizzled with Grand Marnier berry sauce and topped with cinnamon whipped cream, delivering a warm and indulgent finish.
This anniversary event is a unique opportunity for Riverside patrons to celebrate Market Broiler’s legacy of fresh, quality seafood and its impact on the local dining scene since its founding in 1989. In addition to the tasting dinner, Market Broiler is offering anniversary specials, including discounted classic dishes and exclusive merchandise.
