Wednesday Gazette: November 28, 2024
Hello Riverside, and Happy Thanksgiving!
Last Thursday morning, I participated in a workshop where, for one exercise, we paired with someone we didn't know and were assigned five-minute interviews about our greatest professional accomplishments.
My answer was easy: The Raincross Gazette. I am beyond proud of the work that we're doing here.
Since last Thanksgiving, we have published 511 stories focused on the city of Riverside and hired the first full-time reporter exclusively dedicated to covering our city in years. I wish I had data for the revenue we've driven to small local businesses, volunteer hours served through our calendar, or new and meaningful friendships made through our connections.
Because I am a future-focused person, I mostly look at The Gazette through the lens of what I want to be doing better, but when I slow down and look at where we are right now ā the view is pretty damn great.
All of this is only possible because of you: the 6,800+ of you who read our newsletters, the 359 paid supporting members, and our incredible advertising partners. You're not just supporting the development of the newsroom Riverside deserves; you quite literally put the food on my table.
Thank you, thank you, thank you ā all.
Happy Thanksgiving, Riverside ā I am grateful for you.
PS. If there's a Riversider you're thankful for, consider nominating them for Neighbor of the Week.
PPS. If youāre thankful enough for this newsroom to sport some RG merch, we have a limited supply remaining in our store, and you can take 30% off with the code SHOPLOCAL from now through the end of Monday.
Sixty-seven cents of every dollar spent at local businesses stays within the local economy compared to forty-three cents at national chain stores.
