City Council
City Council will meet in closed and open sessions Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. There is one discussion item on the agenda.
Fiscal Year 2022/23 Third Quarter Financial Update
In a continuation from the July 18 council meeting, Council will receive the City’s Fiscal Year 2022/23 Third Quarter Financial Update, which includes a request to “approve the allocation of $10 million in projected General Fund savings to the General Fund Infrastructure Reserve ($7 million) and the establishment of a Technology Reserve ($3 million).”
Appointments
Council will also confirm the appointments of Daniel Robles to the Transportation Board on the recommendation of Councilmember Cervantes and Debbie Martis to the Human Relations Commission on the recommendation of Mayor Lock Dawson.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission will meet Thursday, August 3, at 9:00 a.m.
One project has a public hearing for “the installation of a 10-foot-tall motorized electric security fence behind an existing 5-foot-tall perimeter fence” at the outdoor storage yard for Bemus Landscaping.
Board of Ethics
The Board of Ethics will meet Thursday, August 3, at 5:00 p.m. There are three items of significance on the agenda:
The annual review of the Code of Ethics and Conduct for its effectiveness presented by City Clerk Donesia Gause.
A review of proposed amendments to the Standing Rules and Hearing Rules and Procedures of the Board of Ethics.
Discussion on the “conditions for use of outside legal counsel in lieu of the City Attorney to advise the Board of Ethics” presented by Assistant City Attorney Susan Wilson.
City Council will consider approving $7.1 million for new fire and service trucks, approving a $6.525 million CalTrans-funded sidewalk project in La Sierra, and designating the home of Miné Okubo an official City Landmark.
Agendas are light and several meetings are cancelled this week due to the Fourth of July holiday. Council will consider updating pension contracts for Police leadership retirement cost sharing, and the Transportation Board will consider eliminating two permit-required street parking zones.
