It's a hectic time of year but maybe a night at the basketball arena with some nachos is a perfect break from shopping. We are butting up against Christmas break for both college and high school athletics but there are plenty of incredible events this week.
With school ending, we will shut down Sports Shorts for the summer. Sports coverage is a vital part of what we do at Raincross Gazette. Sports Shorts will return in the Fall, and we will cover any emergent sports stories individually.

Swimming
Ava DeAnda is getting a lot of attention for her swimming achievements. The Poly Sophomore won a state title in the 100-meter and repeated as champion in the 200-meter freestyle event. Look for big things from Ava in the future.
High School Softball
The CIF-SS Softball Championships are this weekend. Two Riverside Schools will play in tournament final games. JW North plays Paraclete on Friday in the Division 4 final, and ML King will face Etiwanda on Saturday for the Division 3 title. Both games are at Deanna Manning Stadium in the City of Irvine.
