Riverside Aquettes to Host Junior Olympic Association Championships

The Riverside Aquettes Swim Club will host the Junior Olympic Association Championships for artistic swimming on May 4 at Riverside City College Aquatics Complex. The free event opens at 7:30 a.m., with competition beginning at 8:45 a.m. The morning will feature figure competitions and solos, followed by duets, free team routines and technical team events in the afternoon.

"We are pleased to be hosting this great event here in Riverside," said Shannon Jones, head coach of the Riverside Aquettes. "A lot of people enjoyed watching artistic swimming during the Olympics last year, and this is their chance to see this beautiful sport up close and personal."

Athletes will compete to qualify for the 2025 Junior Olympic Championship in Arlington, Texas. Founded in 1958, RAQ brings competitive artistic swimming to the Inland Empire while also offering year-round swim lessons. More at swimraq.org.

CBU to Host WAC Softball Tournament

California Baptist University will host the Western Athletic Conference Softball Tournament at Funk Stadium from May 7โ€“10, 2025. This tournament marks CBUโ€™s final season in the WAC before joining the Big West Conference next year. The Lancers are currently in third place with an 11-10 conference record (24-27 overall) and will play their final regular-season series this weekend at Tarleton State.

The tournament bracket will be finalized after this weekendโ€™s games. CBU could improve its seeding depending on the results against second-place Tarleton State (13-8). Grand Canyon currently leads the conference with an 18-2 record and enters the tournament on a 17-game winning streak.

Fans can purchase tickets to the tournament through CBUโ€™s online ticketing system. Single-game tickets are available for $12 at cbulancers.evenue.net.
