One year after Kobe Bryant’s passing, a mural of his image downtown draws locals and tourists alike to remember his life.
Marco McGuire, owner of ProAbition and Downtown Experiment, said he commissioned artist Rudy Mendez to create a mural in a space that would otherwise be unnoticed by the community.
“We’re using that area now as our outside patio dining. So we’ve had people from all over the area come and appreciate Rudy’s artwork,” McGuire said. “We wanted to honor [Kobe Bryant] and what he meant to everyone.”
The mural can be seen near Downtown Experiment on University Avenue.
The Sikorsky SH-3, flown by four presidents including Nixon, will be restored and displayed at the Riverside museum while a new hangar is built at the Nixon Library.
