Riversider Magazine Hosts Inaugural Photo Show and Sale
The event at the Raincross District is an opportunity to buy prints of photos from the Riversider pages and beyond.
Each week, we will introduce a new neighbor. This is not a who's who list. These are regular Riversiders doing exceptional things.
Mary Ann Mac Vey, a second-generation Inland Empire resident, has lived in Riverside’s Canyon Crest neighborhood with her husband, Ken, since 1985. A lifelong gardener, she has transformed her yard into a colorful oasis of flowers, roses, and fruit trees.
In 2013, after a series of burglaries, Mary Ann helped organize a Neighborhood Watch group that has grown to over 550 members, covering 1,200 homes. Their efforts, including regular updates and Neighborhood Watch signs, have significantly reduced crime, making the area a safer place to live.
The group also spearheads beautification projects, from replanting medians to restoring the neighborhood’s formal entrance. They’ve installed decorative metal recreations of the Canyon Crest logo, adorned with lights and seasonal decorations, to foster community pride.
In 2015, the group received the Riverside Neighborhood Partnership Spirit Award. Today, Canyon Crest is celebrated as a safe, welcoming, and vibrant community.
