The Adrian Dell and Carmen Roberts Foundation is inviting Inland Empire residents to hit the links for a good cause.

The foundation will host its fifth annual golf tournament fundraiser Monday, Nov. 9, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Victoria Club, 2521 Arroyo Drive, Riverside. Registration ranges from $200 to $800.

The event will raise money for the Empowering Young Women Conference, which helps young women develop leadership skills and pursue opportunities.

“We invite the community to play for a purpose,” said Dell Roberts, foundation president. “This tournament brings together golfers, sponsors and donors who are passionate about empowering citizens of the Inland Empire through cultural activities, education and expanded economic opportunities.”

Tournament chair David Taylor said the event typically attracts about 100 golfers. But the tournament is about more than golf. It's about investing in the next generation.

“One person’s not going to change everything, but if each person does their part, it’s a cumulative effect that makes a difference,” Taylor said.

Taylor, who has been involved with the tournament for five years, said the mission is personal. As the father of a 15-year-old daughter, he understands the importance of providing young women with leadership opportunities and emotional support.

He also stressed the need to invest in Black women, who often lack adequate representation and support.

The event is sponsored by the Adrian Dell and Carmen Roberts Foundation, Riverside City College (RCC), Aaron Ford Dealership, Mercedes-Benz and Farmer Boys.

RCC is the event's community champion sponsor.

“Our partnership with the Adrian Dell & Carmen Roberts Foundation reflects a shared commitment to uplifting individuals and ensuring that opportunity is not limited by circumstance,” RCC said in a statement.

Aaron Ford Dealership and Mercedes-Benz have each donated a vehicle as a hole-in-one prize.

Previous tournaments have attracted local dignitaries, including state Sen. Sabrina Cervantes (D-Riverside) and U.S. Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.)

Taylor hopes golfers leave knowing their participation helped strengthen the community.

“Hopefully if people come out to the tournament, they’re not just having a good time, but they’re also feeling good about the fact that the money spent is going toward helping our community be stronger,” he said.
