Inland Empire Kids Outdoors and Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water remove trash from the Santa Ana River Beach in honor of Earth Day.
Inland Empire Kids Outdoors and Arrowhead Mountain Spring Water partnered to clean up the Santa Ana River beach at McLean Park on Earth Day, April 22, 2023. Over 30 volunteers removed a substantial amount of waste from the banks of the Santa Ana River, including food wrappers, shopping carts, carpet scraps, torn beach canopies, and even diapers.
"The River is in many ways the backbone of our city, and what we are doing today is caring for one of the richest areas of biodiversity in the world," said Paloma Montes, field representative for City of Riverside Council member Erin Edwards, in her opening remarks.
BlueTriton Brands Spring Resources representative, Tam Pham, said, "Since 2014, Arrowhead employees have worked with Inland Empire organizations to remove more than 20,000 pounds of debris. This year, we are bringing our friends and family to clean the Santa Ana River that runs through our own community."
Inland Empire Kids Outdoors (IEKO) is a non-profit organization advocating for clean, healthy access to nature for the children of the Inland Empire. "We are so grateful to the team at Arrowhead Waters for not only sponsoring [this clean up] but also doing the physical work needed to accomplish a clean, safe place for children and families to enjoy our beautiful river. Businesses like this are what help make the Inland Empire great," said Megan Brousseau, president of IEKO.
