Plumbing Work Sparked University Riverside Gardens Fire that Displaced 150 Residents
The accidental blaze burned undetected through the attic for hours before breaking through the roof of the Iowa Avenue complex.
The aerial light performances on June 17 and July 1 are part of the city's Summer Concert Series and America's 250th Anniversary celebrations.
The City will host two free drone light shows this summer — one at La Sierra Park on June 17 and another at Fairmount Park on July 1 — as part of the city's ongoing Summer Concert Series.
Both events are free and open to the public. The Summer Concert Series runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at each venue, with the drone show launching at approximately 9 p.m., once the band wraps up.
The June 17 show at La Sierra Park is also part of the Local Vibes Initiative, a community engagement effort in partnership with Councilmember Steve Hemenway. The July 1 show at Fairmount Park continues the city's summer programming and ties into America 250, the nationwide commemoration of the country's 250th anniversary.
Both events will feature live music, food vendors, and a beer garden hosted by the Riverside Community Services Foundation. American Sign Language interpreters will be available at both shows.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. The city recommends arriving early at both locations due to expected crowds and limited parking.
