Members of the Zonta Club of Riverside gathered at the La Sierra Community Room on Sept. 19 to assemble care bags for local Meals on Wheels recipients, pairing the program's meal deliveries with personal care items and handwritten notes for isolated seniors.
The care bags are meant to add a layer of connection to Meals on Wheels' food deliveries for seniors and homebound residents who may otherwise go without regular visitors.
"This project is about more than just items in a bag, it's about letting people know they are valued and remembered," Debbie Waltzer, president of the Zonta Club of Riverside, said in a statement. "We are proud to partner with Meals on Wheels to make a meaningful difference in our community."
The club's next business meeting is scheduled for Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at the SSgt. Salvador J. Lara Casa Blanca Library. Members plan to assemble Zonta Birthing Kits, which provide supplies for safe childbirth to women in underserved communities as part of the organization's international service work.
