Housing and Homelessness Committee
The Housing and Homelessness Committee meets on Monday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 p.m. (agenda) to consider a proposal from Leap for Joy Foundation to use $1.28 million in City homelessness grant funds to buy and renovate a home at 775 Huston Street for a 24-hour supervised residential treatment program for pregnant and parenting teens (item 2), and to discuss potential changes to the city's mobile home park rent stabilization rules that could limit rent increases when a home passes to a family member (item 3).
Board of Public Utilities
The Board of Public Utilities meets on Monday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. (agenda) to review a report on how the utility spent money from selling state pollution allowances, including a $50 million reserve that staff now say cannot easily be returned to customers as bill credits because of City Charter limits (item 12), and considering a $2.13 million no-bid agreement to replace all 600 filter membrane modules at the John W. North Water Treatment Plant in spring 2027 (item 14).
Board of Ethics
The Board of Ethics meets on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. (agenda) to discuss a board member’s proposals to ask voters to add the Board of Ethics to the City Charter — meaning the City Council could no longer change or dissolve it without voter approval — and to let the board request investigations and audits from the Inspector General (item 5).
