Item 7: Awarding $4.7 Million Bid to Repave Riverside Roads
During Tuesday’s meeting, the council will look to approve a bid from All American Asphalt in Corona to repave 4.59 miles of road in Riverside. The total cost to the city will be $4,734,134.
The project will include the re-pavement of sections of Van Buren Boulevard., University Avenue., Arlington Avenue., and three other streets. Also included will be the reconstruction of any damaged concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, and pedestrian ramps.
Item 16: Allocation of $36 Million of American Rescue Plan Funds
The council will potentially be approving the expenditure plan for their first allocation of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The city was allocated $36,767,594 in funding.
The funds are coming from a U.S. $350 billion covid relief fund that’s being spread to eligible state, local, territorial and tribal governments. The plan will divide the funds into six different categories, with the most prominent being over $12 million each for “Negative Economic Impacts” and “Services to Disproportionately Impacted Communities.”
Item 26: Potential Approval of Preferential Parking Off Lincoln Ave and Van Buren Ave
The council will look to approve the establishment of preferential parking zones at designated segments of Butterfield Rd. and Lincoln Ave. in Ward 5. The parking will be “2-Hour parking between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and No Parking between the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.”
According to Councilmember Gaby Plascencia of Ward 5, the plan comes after six months of deliberation after community members expressed concerns about residents of the new Lincoln Village Apartment Complex blocking driveways and taking up street parking. Residents of the neighboring homes will now have to pay $33 per year for a parking permit that will also come with two guest permits. Permits will be available for all those that live in a household according to Plascencia.
