Crack down on Nitrous Oxide & Kratom, Stray Dogs turns 1, Philharmonic upcoming intimate show...
The Downtown dog-friendly café is celebrating its first anniversary with events through the end of February, including a movie night, a matcha class and a two-day anniversary weekend.
Stray Dogs Coffee, the Korean-inspired café at 3225 Market St. that built its Downtown following on house-roasted beans, housemade syrups and a mission to help stray animals, is marking its first year in business with a monthlong series of events capped by an anniversary weekend Feb. 20-21.
Husband-and-wife co-owners Jess and Tyler left careers in marketing to open the Market Street café in February 2025, describing it as "our love letter to the town we now call home." The shop reflects their Korean heritage and Christian faith — the couple donates 10% of profits to Foster Army, a Riverside-area organization that places animals with foster families.
Tyler is behind the specialty drinks and cold foams; Jess handles the housemade syrups and baked goods, including the banana pudding. The dog-friendly shop also serves pup cups for canine visitors.
Signature drinks include the Greyhound Latte — made with Earl Grey-infused syrup — and the Melona Matcha, made with a housemade melon syrup.
The anniversary celebration began earlier this month with a specialty latte promotion Feb. 5, a photo day Feb. 6, a Valentine's Day special pairing custom bouquets with free drinks Feb. 14, and a pour over class Feb. 16.
Two events remain: a community movie night Thursday, Feb. 19, and a matcha class Saturday, Feb. 28.
Anniversary Weekend runs Feb. 20-21. On Friday, Feb. 20, the café hosts an anniversary party with pizza, ice cream and coffee. The following day, Saturday, Feb. 21, it holds an Anniversary Market Day featuring local vendors — a full vendor list is forthcoming.
Stray Dogs also offers mobile coffee catering for events throughout Riverside County. The coffee cart package starts at $400 for two hours of service for up to 50 drinks, with lattes, americanos and a selection of housemade syrups. The café cart package, at $500, adds non-coffee options, cold foams and additional syrup selections. Bookings are handled through the shop's Instagram.
