Mission Inn Foundation Back on the Mall
Foundation returns to Main Street after year away.
The Mission Inn Foundation has secured a new location on Main Street after a year on Market Street. They will take over the corner of Sixth and Main in the space previously occupied by T Elliot clothing boutique.
"We're thrilled to announce the opening of our new location at 3594 Main Street in downtown Riverside," said Jenn Gamble, Mission Inn Foundation president. "Just steps from our former home, this move marks a joyful return to Main Street, bringing us back to the heart of the community we serve."
The foundation will occupy the three storefronts at the corner of Sixth and Main streets, directly across from the Mission Inn's Amistad Dome, adjacent to the building that once served as the hotel's annex and workers' dormitory.
Their Market Street location had little foot traffic and building problems. The talent, knowledge and resiliency of the docents kept the foundation operating. They expanded tour offerings and developed new products during the year.
"Our new location will feature an expanded museum area, allowing us to display even more of the cherished artifacts that tell the story of the Mission Inn and our city's remarkable past," Gamble said. "The larger retail space will also make it easier for guests to explore locally inspired gifts, books and art while supporting our educational and preservation programs."
The move puts the foundation back on the pedestrian mall. The foundation aims to open in their much more conspicuous location before the Mission Inn's Festival of Lights begins in late November.
"We can't wait to open our doors and continue celebrating Riverside's heritage, right where it belongs, on Main Street," Gamble said.
