Friday Gazette: December 27, 2024
Hello Riverside, and Happy Friday!
While our team is off on holiday break, we didn't want to step away from you for too long, so in today's edition, we're highlighting our Top 5 stories of 2024. There are also just 4 days left in our year-end giving campaign.
Last year, I asked Gazette readers to contribute to our year-end campaign, and y'all gave $11,375, which I paired with a $20,000 grant to hire Ken Crawford as our community reporter. Over the last year, I could spend the time I had been using for community reporting myself and focus on growing the Gazette into a financially sustainable operation, which now pays Ken's salary without me having to ask for your help.
That's why this year-end campaign is so important – I'm asking you to contribute to help me kick start the salary of a dedicated City Hall reporter so they can provide vital oversight of our local government and so I can spend more time on the Gazette's business functions so we can continue to grow this newsroom and give Riverside the local news coverage it deserves.
There are five days left in our campaign, and we're currently sitting at 11% of our target, with a total of $4,467 given. I shared last week why this is so important:
What we know about Riverside determines what we believe about it, and what we believe about Riverside determines its future.

Thank you; we'll be back in your inbox on Monday with a look back on what you thought was the most important news of 2024 and your predictions for 2025.
From community milestones to stories of resilience, these five articles captured the heart of Riverside in 2024.
As 2024 draws to a close, we’re looking back at the stories that captured Riverside’s attention this year. From record-setting natural wonders to community shakeups, these five articles stood out as the most-read and most-discussed on The Raincross Gazette.
See something? Say something. Your tips and ideas are what fuel The Raincross Gazette. If you know of something newsworthy happening in our city, please share it with us.
