Nolan Shaheed, a well-known trumpet player, will perform at La Sierra University on May 22, 2024. Shaheed is one of the most accomplished trumpet players in the world, having performed with a wide range of notable artists throughout his decades-long career.

Shaheed's career began in the mid-1970s in Los Angeles, where he played with Aretha Franklin and Marvin Gaye. He later became the lead trumpet player with the Count Basie Orchestra. Later, he worked with Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Phil Collins, Miles Davis, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Shaheed first played La Sierra University in 2016. He returns to Pierce Street Jazz for a performance at the Troesh Conference Center at the Zapara School of Business.

In addition to his work with the trumpet, Shaheed is also an accomplished Master's athlete and middle-distance runner. He holds world records in the 800-meter, 1500-meter, and one-mile distances. His athletic accomplishments punctuate his stand-out career in music, making Shaheed a master of many trades.
