UCR sets new record for fall 2024 applications, with an increase in underrepresented students
UCR has announced that it has set a new record for first-year applications for the fall 2024 season, with 57,240 applications submitted. The previous record was set in 2023, when 56,462 students applied to UCR's nine undergraduate campuses.
According to the latest data released by the UCR Office of the President on March 6, overall applications to UCR fell by 2.2% in 2023 compared to 2022, but an increase of 9% compared to 2022. The UCR also reported that 12,042 transfer applications were submitted, an increase of 10.6% compared to the previous year. Students from the California Community College system submitted the majority of these transfer applications. In addition, 49% of UCR's first-year applicants are from underrepresented classes, such as Black, American Indian, Latino, and Pacific Islander. This percentage is higher than that of seven other UC campuses, with only Merced having more applications from underrepresented classes.
