Welcome to our weekly digest on public meetings and agenda items worth your attention in the coming week. This guide is part of our mission to provide everyday Riversiders like you with the information to speak up on the issues you care about.
City Council
Doesn't meet formally this week. The City Hall 50 Anniversary Celebration, taking place Monday, Oct. 6, at 11:30 a.m. at the Benjamin Franklin Stage outside City Hall, will be the largest gathering of current and former mayors and councilmembers in Riverside history.
Human Resources Board
The Human Resources Board meets on Monday, Oct. 6, at 5:00 p.m. (agenda) to discuss the process for how it reviews employee policies, which currently limits the Board's ability to request changes since policies undergo internal review and labor negotiations before Board consideration, requiring any Board-suggested modifications to restart the lengthy approval process.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee (Councilmembers Hemenway, Robillard, and Falcone) meets on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 3:00 p.m. (agenda) to review the City's use of Preferred Purchasing Partner Agreements.
These agreements allow City departments to purchase goods and services through contracts already established by other government agencies, avoiding separate competitive bidding processes. During the 2024-25 fiscal year, the City used 72 such contracts across departments, with technology, utilities, and police being the heaviest users. City staff will present opportunities to expand training for local businesses on how to participate in these cooperative contracts and improve public access to procurement documentation.
Airport Commission
The Airport Commission meets on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 3:00 p.m. (agenda) for the Airport Manager's monthly operations and activity report.
