This Week in City Hall: June 17, 2024
City Council will consider approving $8.6 million in federal HUD funding for housing and homelessness projects, $6.3 million for a quiet zone project at the Cridge St. railroad crossing, and $775,000 to kick off a five-year project for the beautification of Victoria Ave.

City Council
City Council will meet in closed and open sessions on Tuesday, June 18, in an afternoon session at 3:00 p.m. and an evening session at 6:15 p.m. (agenda). The agenda includes:
- A public hearing on using $8,640,149 in federal HUD funding to address the city's affordable housing and homelessness challenges.
- Authorizing the "vacation" of the final 285 feet of Sunrise Place to be conceded to a private driveway for a new home being built at the end of the street (this is the home whose construction is visible about the Poly HS athletic fields).
- Consider authorizing $6.3 million for construction projects which, when completed, will "establish a railroad Quite Zone and eliminate the routine sounding of the train horns at Cridge Street the rail crossing."
- Consider authorizing $775,000 for irrigation repairs and bark mulch installation in Phase 1 of a proposed "five-year plan to enhance and beautify Victoria Avenue," totaling $2.78 million.
Commission on Aging
The Commission on Aging meets on Monday, June 17 at 4:00 p.m. (agenda) for a presentation from the Parks Department on the Riverside Connect program, which "provides the seniors and disabled community within the City of Riverside."
Park and Recreation Commission
The Commission on Aging meets on Monday, June 17 at 6:30 p.m. (agenda) for an update on the Aquatics Program summer 2024 programming.
Planning Commission
The Planning Commission meets on Thursday, June 20, at 9:00 a.m. (agenda) to review proposed Zoning Code amendments affecting what can be built in small vacant lots across the city.
Commission on Disabilities
The Commission on Disabilities meets on Thursday, June 20, at 5:30 p.m. (agenda) for a presentation from Phenix Technology, a Riverside-based manufacturer of firefighting helmets, on its Opportunity for All program to give training and work experience to neurodiverse employees.
