District to offer free lunches at parks and libraries.
Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is out for the Summer. For many parents, that means 30 more hours a week of kids needing to eat and be entertained. RUSD and the City Parks department have teamed up to provide lunch, at no cost, for anyone under 18 at several parks and libraries; no qualification is necessary. The service is available on weekdays from June 3 through August 2.
All sites are closed on June 19 and July 4. The lunches are provided through the California Department of Education Nutrition Services Grant.
