The Riverside Police Department received five voluntary notifications from federal immigration authorities between October and November, according to the first monthly update on a new tracking system mandated by the City Council.

Krystelle Schneider from the City Manager's office reported during Tuesday's council meeting that RPD received two safety notifications in October and three in November. The city has not yet received any community-submitted reports through its 311 reporting system.

"These numbers are based on voluntary reports that the police department receives from federal authorities, as well as any reports received from the community about their experiences," Schneider said.

The tracking system implements requirements from Resolution 24310, which the council passed 4-3 on Oct. 14 following more than three hours of public testimony.

The city launched an immigration information and resources webpage on Oct. 23. The page features news updates on reported incidents and legal information. A button labeled "Report ICE Activity" allows residents to submit reports through the 311 system.

"To date we have not received any reports through that portal," Schneider said.

Councilmember Clarissa Cervantes, who championed the resolution following a July 9 operation at the Madison Street Home Depot, said "I looked at the website, phenomenal job and certainly we'll ask if there's any input for any changes or recommendations. But you guys did a wonderful job."

Schneider said "we will continue providing monthly updates both to the City Council and the Human Relations Commission as directed."
