The Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Eric Bishop, Ed.D., as the permanent president of Riverside City College during its June 9 committee meeting. Bishop, who has served as RCC's interim president since August 2025, will officially take on the role July 1.
The confirmation ends a national search that began after Bishop stepped in on an interim basis. A 16-member search committee representing faculty, classified professionals, management, and community members reviewed candidates before finalists met individually with Chancellor Wolde-Ab Isaac, Ph.D.
"President Bishop's lifelong engagement in education has uniquely prepared him for his new role as president of RCC," Isaac said in a statement. "He is a driving force behind raising the standard of care at RCC and throughout the District."
Board of Trustees President José Alcala added that the board "wholeheartedly supports the chancellor's selection of President Bishop to serve as the chief executive officer of RCC."
Bishop first came to the district in July 2024 as interim vice chancellor of educational services before transitioning to the RCC interim presidency. He brings extensive community college experience, including 13 years at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, where he held roles spanning student services, athletics, the Fontana Campus, and legislative engagement.
Before joining RCCD, Bishop served as interim vice president of enrollment management at the University of La Verne and as superintendent/president of the Ohlone Community College District, which serves Fremont and Newark, from 2020 to 2022.
Bishop holds a doctorate in organizational leadership, a master's in communications, and a bachelor's in journalism, all from the University of La Verne.
