For Your Commuting Hunger Consideration
A series by Anthony Solorzano exploring Riverside through the eyes of a transplant, as the memory of a hometown slowly fades.
Each week, we will introduce a new neighbor. This is not a who's who list. These are regular Riversiders doing exceptional things.
Robin is incredibly proud of her work with Foster Army Animal Rescue and Thrift Store in Riverside. Helping to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals has been deeply rewarding, and witnessing their transformations inspires her every day. The Thrift Store not only funds their mission but also brings the community together in support of rescue efforts.
For Robin, Riverside is a place where compassion and community meet. The generosity of its people makes this work possible, and sheâs grateful to be part of a city that cares so deeply for animals and those in need.
What does Riverside mean to you? Riverside is a community built on compassion, resilience, and a shared dedication to making a difference. Itâs a place where people come together to support one anotherâwhether through animal rescue, local businesses, or charitable efforts. Riverside has given me the opportunity to be part of something bigger: helping save and improve the lives of animals in need through Foster Army Animal Rescue and Thrift Store. Iâm grateful to work in a city that values kindness, service, and the well-being of all its residentsâboth human and animal.
What is your favorite Riverside small business? Of course, Foster Army Animal Rescue's Thrift Store!
What is your favorite Riverside non-profit organization? Ummm, let me think... Foster Army Animal Rescue!
What is your go-to sandwich in town? Simple Simonâs. I love the vegan sandwich and the smokey grilled cheese.
What is your idea of a perfect weekend day in Riverside? Taking my pups for an early hike through Sycamore Canyon Wilderness Park (before it gets hot!!), having lunch at Montyâs in the Food Lab, and grabbing ice cream from Handelâs for dessert.
If you could put one message on a billboard on the 91, what would it be? Please spay & neuter your pets!
Finally, tell us what youâre working on right now and how our readers can support your effortsâwhether itâs a project, passion, or cause close to your heart! Iâm focused on expanding the impact of Foster Army Animal Rescue. Weâre working hard to rescue sick, injured, and at-risk animals in shelters. You can support our mission in so many ways! Shopping or donating to our thrift store helps provide critical funds for medical care and supplies. Volunteering with usâwhether at the store or by fostering an animalâmakes a direct impact on saving lives. And spreading the word about our cause helps us reach more people who want to help. Another simple but powerful way to support us is by following, liking, and sharing our social media pages. Every like, share, and comment helps us find more adopters, fosters, and supporters. Every little bit counts!
Neighbor of the Week is our way of celebrating the hidden heroes of Riversideâthose who go above and beyond to make our community stronger, kinder, and more vibrant. We believe every remarkable Riversider deserves their story told. Know someone whoâs making a difference? Nominate a Neighbor of the Week
