Dutch Bros Opens First Riverside Location

Dutch Bros Coffee has opened its first location within Riverside city limits at 9604 Magnolia Ave., adding another drive-thru option to the city's crowded coffee landscape.

The Oregon-based chain, which launched in 1992, has been rapidly expanding across Southern California as part of an aggressive growth strategy targeting 2,029 locations nationwide by 2029. The company plans to open 200 new stores annually over the next several years.

The Riverside location joins several other Dutch Bros drive-thrus already operating in the Inland Empire, including two locations each in San Bernardino and Fontana, plus additional sites in Moreno Valley, Redlands and Upland. The expansion represents the latest regional coffee chain to enter Southern California’s competitive market.

Dutch Bros differentiates itself from traditional coffee shops through its focus on sweet, highly customizable beverages and energetic customer service. The chain’s menu emphasizes colorful drinks, energy beverages and what it calls a “secret menu” with more than 80 specialty variations. Unlike typical coffee shops where morning hours drive most sales, 83% of Dutch Bros purchases occur after 9 a.m.

The company has cultivated a loyal following, particularly among customers under 25, who make up 56% of its customer base. Dutch Bros ranked as the highest-scoring quick-service restaurant brand among Generation Z consumers in recent surveys.

Riverside already hosts numerous coffee options, including many excellent local roasters and independent shops. The new Dutch Bros location features drive-thru service and a walk-up window, operating seven days a week beginning at 5 a.m.
