Tuesday Gazette: November 4, 2025

Hello Riverside, and Happy Tuesday! Here at The Gazette, your community newsroom thrives on the experiences you share with us. Today, we have two requests.

First, we're saddened to share that our community has lost Duane Roberts, the beloved founder and innkeeper of Downtown's Mission Inn Hotel & Spa. We know many Riversiders have stories about Duane, whether you worked with him, stayed at the Inn, or simply have a memory to share. We'd love to hear and share these memories as we honor his impact on our community.

Second, with Halloween behind us and Christmas right around the corner, The Gazette is creating a Holiday Toy/Gift Drive guide to help neighbors support neighbors this season. If your organization is hosting a drive, let us know.

Share your memories or toy drive information by replying to this email or contacting newsroom@raincrossgazette.com.

The 17th Annual Riverside Veterans Parade takes place Saturday in Downtown Riverside, relying primarily on community donations and a fundraiser car show as organizers work to rebuild city funding that has dwindled in recent years.

Driving the news: Vice-Chair Joshua Felegy says "a vast majority of our funding comes directly from the community and our fundraiser car show," noting that substantial city funding "has unfortunately dwindled." Organizers are making increased municipal involvement their primary goal while exploring format adjustments for future sustainability.

The details: The free parade begins at 10 a.m. from Riverside City College on Magnolia Avenue at Ramona Drive, featuring marching bands, military vehicles, equestrian units, color guards, classic cars and floats celebrating this year's theme, "Soundtrack of Service: Music Across the Eras."

  • The route proceeds up Magnolia to Market Street, turns right on 10th Street and right again on Main Street before concluding at the Historic Riverside County Courthouse.

What else: An accompanying expo runs until 2 p.m. near the courthouse with vendor booths, food trucks, live music and family activities. All Downtown parking structures and courthouse lots offer free parking.

Beyond Saturday: Veterans are invited to a complimentary lunch at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Elks Lodge on Brockton Avenue. Year-round, the parade committee partners with the VA, US Vets and Riverside Elks to provide monthly free dinners and housing assistance for veterans experiencing homelessness.

Taco Bell is bringing its new Live Más Café concept to the Inland Empire with three locations opening in early November, offering residents a coffee shop experience alongside traditional menu items.

The cafés will open at 220 W. Ontario Ave. in Corona on Nov. 4, 1420 University Ave. in Riverside on Nov. 5, and 9709 Base Line Road in Rancho Cucamonga on Nov. 11. Each location will host opening celebrations with games, giveaways and free samples.

The new concept focuses on beverages not typically associated with fast food restaurants. Specially trained employees called "Bellristas" will prepare churro-topped frozen drinks, fruit-flavored agua refrescas, Mexican mochas and dirty sodas — carbonated drinks mixed with cream and flavored syrups.
