The City has a full calendar of Earth Month events this April, from insect fairs to community garden tours. The observance traces its roots to April 22, 1970, when Sen. Gaylord Nelson organized a national teach-in that eventually grew into a global movement. This year's theme, "Our Power, Our Planet," centers on community-driven action around clean energy and environmental protection. The City's complete calendar is at riversideca.gov; below are four highlights.

Blue Zones Project Riverside, a five-year community health initiative, launched in Riverside in 2025.

The event is at Riverside Municipal Airport and features music, açaí bowls, coffee and giveaways while supplies last.
