Riverside residents curious about how their city government operates are invited to a hands-on learning experience this Tuesday, July 22, at the first-ever City Hall Insider workshop.

Hosted at City Hall, the free event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and includes interactive presentations, Q&A sessions, and opportunities to meet city staff. Participants will hear directly from key department leaders and learn how decisions are made that affect neighborhoods, development, safety, and more.

“This October, City Hall marks its 50th anniversary and we are dedicating this anniversary year of 2025/2026 to civic engagement and education on how municipal government operates,” said Councilmember Phillip Falcone, who represents Ward 1. “The City Hall Insider workshop is an important first step in pulling back the curtain to see how City Hall works for you. Knowledge of our local government operations grants residents more power to make meaningful change, so don’t miss this opportunity!”

Councilmember Steven Robillard of Ward 3 also shared his thoughts on the event. “City Hall Insider is a valuable learning opportunity for residents to gain a deeper understanding of how local government functions and how decisions are made. I encourage everyone in Ward 3 and throughout Riverside to attend, ask questions and expand their knowledge of the city we proudly call home.”

All Councilmembers were invited to share comments for this article. Some were unable to respond before publication due to time constraints.

For those interested in a preview, City Clerk Donesia Clark provides a helpful overview of what attendees can expect in her Instagram video explanation.
