Local nonprofit seeks 25,000 diapers to help families struggling with basic necessities.
The Diaper Bank of the Inland Empire will launch its first "Cram the Van" diaper drive Sept. 15-21, coinciding with National Diaper Need Awareness Week.
The weeklong event aims to collect 25,000 diapers, 500 packages of wipes and raise $10,000 to support the organization's distribution efforts. Nearly half of American families struggle to afford enough diapers for their children, according to the nonprofit.
"Our mission is simple: no child should have to go without clean diapers," said Courtney Garcia, executive director of the Diaper Bank of the Inland Empire. "The inaugural Cram the Van is not only a chance to collect essential supplies, but also a powerful way to raise awareness about diaper need in our community. Together, we can ensure that no bottom is left behind."
The nonprofit currently distributes about 20,000 diapers and 400 packages of wipes monthly to families across the Inland Empire, serving more than 400 babies each month. However, demand exceeds supply, with the organization working toward distributing more than 300,000 diapers annually.
During the drive, businesses and community organizations can host the nonprofit's mobile distribution van at their locations, inviting employees and customers to donate directly.
The Diaper Bank of the Inland Empire addresses diaper need through distribution, education and advocacy throughout the region.
