California Baptist University explores supernatural dimension in prestigious international forum.
California Baptist University unveiled its "Supernatural Intelligens" exhibition at the 19th International Architecture Biennale in Venice on Wednesday, joining elite institutions in one of the world's premier architectural showcases.
The exhibition, developed by CBU's College of Architecture, Visual Arts and Design, explores connections between natural and supernatural phenomena in the built environment through biological, climatological and cosmological elements.
As the largest faith-based architecture and design school in the United States, CBU developed an exhibition responding to this year's "Intelligens" theme by proposing supernatural dimensions as architectural solutions to environmental challenges.
"Debuting our 'Supernatural Intelligens' exhibit at the Architecture Biennale positions our faculty and students at the forefront of architectural thought," said Dirk Dallas, dean of CAVAD. "It's a testament to our mission of merging faith, truth and beauty in innovative ways that address societal needs."
CBU's participation comes after a selective application process with the European Cultural Center. Riverside-based Ruhnau Clarke Architects partnered with the university to sponsor the project.
"CBU's involvement in the Architecture Biennale is an extraordinary honor and a rare opportunity to share our work on a global stage," said Keelan Kaiser, director of the architecture program at CBU and one of the faculty members who worked on the project.
The exhibition will remain open to the public at Palazzo Bembo through Nov. 23.
