The Mission Inn Museum and Foundation is presenting a revamped Frank Miller's Vault exhibition on Sept. 13 at the Riverside Municipal Airport terminal, featuring previously unseen artifacts including a piece of Amelia Earhart's plane.

Driving the news: The gallery-style event showcases items from founder Frank Miller's collection that differ from those displayed in the earlier exhibition at the Fox Theater.

  • Priced at $20, the event offers visitors a chance to discover new pieces from Miller's extensive collection.

Why it matters: The exhibition reflects the foundation's ongoing effort to share different aspects of Miller's collection while expanding beyond familiar downtown locations.

  • The airport venue provides expanded gallery space and creates thematic ties to aviation pieces in the collection.

Educational component: UC Riverside students will serve as presenters during the event, offering visitors deeper insights into Miller's collecting habits and the significance of individual pieces.

What's next: The Museum and Foundation continues to work on securing a permanent location while presenting traveling exhibitions and special events.

  • Additional programming is planned around the Mount Rubidoux Peace Tower anniversary, including a photo competition and related events.

Riverside Offers Fresh Take on NFL Viewing with Outdoor 'Backyard' Experience

We put together a guide to some places to watch a game that may keep the whole family entertained.

From opossums to raccoons to skunks, Riverside backyards come alive after dark with a cast of nocturnal neighbors worth knowing.

If your bedroom window is adjacent to your backyard, you might occasionally wake to the glare of security lights or the sound of things going bump in the night. More likely than not, your intruder is a furry one. While some folks pay big bucks for an overnight stay at San Diego Safari Park to sleep with the animals on a ā€œRoar ’n Snoreā€ adventure, your backyard can be a nocturnal zoo as well.

When most birds and reptiles are asleep, a lot of mammal species are out and about. In fact, nocturnal mammals are not the exception but the rule. From my experience, there are three types of mammals you are most likely to encounter in your Riverside neighborhood or yard after dark. These thrilling three are the North American opossum, the raccoon, and the striped skunk.
