Mayor Lock Dawson to Lead Historic Summit of California's Largest Cities

Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson will chair the first-ever C13 Summit this week, bringing together mayors from California's 13 largest cities to develop unified solutions for homelessness, housing and economic development.

The summit, scheduled for Oct. 22 in San Francisco, marks the inaugural gathering of the Big City Mayors Coalition, a bipartisan group representing more than 11 million California residents.

"United in purpose, the coalition is calling for bold, result-driven solutions that meet the pressing needs of their communities," according to a press release from the mayor's office.

Lock Dawson, who serves as chair of the Big City Mayors Coalition, will join Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie and mayors from San Jose, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, Oakland and Irvine at the summit.

The coalition plans to advance a unified vision that will serve as a roadmap for potential collaboration with Gov. Gavin Newsom and the state Legislature. The mayors aim to take decisive action on what they describe as the state's most urgent challenges.

The summit will conclude with a 4 p.m. press conference at San Francisco City Hall. The event will be livestreamed at youtube.com/live/PO1I0ul2hNQ.

Riverside is California's 12th largest city by population, according to recent census data.
