Men's Soccer - Saturday, August 30

California Baptist Lancers vs Cal Poly Mustangs

Time TBD • CBU Soccer Stadium, Riverside

The weekend's marquee matchup has the Lancers welcoming the defending Big West Conference champions to their award-winning soccer facility. CBU enters riding a perfect 2-0 start to the season, fueled by the outstanding play of fresh arrival Liam Jones, who earned WAC Player of the Week honors after his stellar opening performances. The West Ham Academy product, fresh off the plane from England, has made an immediate impact for the Lancers with his technical ability and Premier League-level training showing through in crucial moments.

Cal Poly brings championship pedigree as the 2024 Big West Conference regular season champions, their first conference title in program history. The Mustangs dominated defensively last season, ranking second nationally with a goals-against average of just 0.676 per game. This inter-conference battle serves as more than just an early season test, it’s a preview of future Big West rivalry, as CBU is set to join Cal Poly's conference in 2026, making this an early psychological battle between future league rivals.
