Last weekend, the Old Riverside Foundation (ORF) hosted its annual Vintage Home Tour, an event that has become a highlight on many Riversiders' calendars. The tour gives us a chance to peek behind the curtain at some of the most amazing houses in our city—those beautiful homes we drive or walk past and wonder what they're like inside.

The 2025 tour featured five distinctive properties, including a classic American Foursquare, two Victorian survivors, a charming Spanish Revival, and a hillside post-and-beam residence with perfect views of Downtown and Mount Rubidoux. The house on Twelfth and Redwood, near Evergreen Cemetery, had its top floor closed to visitors—presumably to give the ghosts a place to hang out while we walked through their home.

The Old Riverside Foundation has been working to protect Riverside’s classic architecture and spaces since 1979. Its advocacy supports period-correct restorations and helps homeowners through the restoration process, while its salvage operations rescue materials from buildings that cannot be saved.

It offers grants to homeowners committed to proper restoration, as well as awards for jobs well done. The group is doing important work—ensuring the “tear it down and build a parking lot” crowd doesn’t win every time.
