Thursday’s 67° high is the coolest we’ve seen in a while, so it might finally be time to find out where that jacket ended up. Since this would be some of the first real rain of the season, expect slick roads as months of built-up oil lift off the pavement: give yourself extra stopping distance and maybe check those wipers before Wednesday. Sunshine is back Friday and Saturday, with highs rebounding into the 70s. **Fair warning:* we're not meteorologists! Our forecasts are pulled from public weather data as a little extra for our readers. For the most current conditions, your favorite weather app knows more than we do — but we'll always do our best to help you plan your weekend.* --- ## 💬 The Watercooler — Gazette staff, freelancers, and community contributors share what's on their minds this week 😎 **Justin** is feeling grateful for all of the encouragement and even poetry in response to our 20,000 subscriber milestone announcement this week. 🎟️ **Ken** says Riverside has become a town where you have to choose one of many great events happening at the same time — this Saturday you could see a show, check out an NCAA soccer match or go see a great band, so find a reason to get out of the house. 🫠 **Anthony** was promised cooler weather! He doesn’t know what type of shorts to wear. 🍻 **Amy** is toasting Oktoberfest this weekend with friends, pretzels and schnitzel, and will be leaving the lederhosen to the professionals. --- ## Save the Date - Oct 17: [14th Annual Good Neighbor Awards Dinner](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/14th-annual-good-neighbor-awards-dinner/20098563/2026-10-17T17) at The Old Spaghetti Factory ($35) - Oct 17: [Dark Carnival](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/dark-carnival/19989717/2026-10-17T12) at Heritage House - Oct 17: [FREE YOGA - The Art of Vinyasa with Catherine Murray](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/free-yoga-the-art-of-vinyasa-with-catherine-murray/19503669/2026-10-17T07) at Community Yoga Center - Oct 17: [FREE YOGA - Yin Yoga with Kristin Varner](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/free-yoga-yin-yoga-with-kristin-varner/19503829/2026-10-17T09) at Community Yoga Center - Oct 17: [Knights of Columbus Annual Italian Dinner!](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/knights-of-columbus-annual-italian-dinner/20085686/2026-10-17T18) at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church ($20- $35) - Oct 17: [Spooky Music Organ Concert](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/spooky-music-organ-concert/19944423/2026-10-17T17) at First Congregational Church of Riverside ($30) - Oct 18: [FREE YOGA - The Evolution of Ashtanga with Kristin Varner](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/free-yoga-the-evolution-of-ashtanga-with-kristin-varner/19060739/2026-10-18T08) at Community Yoga Center - Oct 19: [FREE YOGA - Moody Mondays with Cherie Amour](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/free-yoga-moody-mondays-with-cherie-amour/19504166/2026-10-19T19) at Community Yoga Center - Oct 21: [FREE YOGA - Seated Yoga with Kristin Varner](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/free-yoga-seated-yoga-with-kristin-varner/19504145/2026-10-21T17) at All Saints Episcopal Church - Oct 22: [Experience RUSD, Riverside Unified State of the District](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/experience-rusd-riverside-unified-state-of-the-district/19934891/2026-10-22T16) at Riverside Municipal Airport - Oct 23: [Riverside Sunrise Rotary Club Meeting](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/riverside-sunrise-rotary-club-meeting/18634391/2026-10-23T07) at Zacatecas Café - Oct 24: [When the Science of Reading Meets the Science of Motivation](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/when-the-science-of-reading-meets-the-science-of-motivation/20134880/2026-10-15T21) at Ruth Lewis Center at Reid Park - Oct 24: [Fall Festival at the R'Garden!](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/fall-festival-at-the-rgarden/20131947/2026-10-24T11) at R'Garden - Oct 24: [Magic Underground](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/magic-underground/20072520/2026-10-24T18) at Back to the Grind ($30- $45) - Oct 24: [Skeleton Keys](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/skeleton-keys/20058916/2026-10-24T19) at First United Methodist Church of Riverside - Oct 24: [Vintage Car and Warbird Show](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/vintage-car-and-warbird-show/19929956/2026-10-24T09) at Riverside Airport - Commemorative Air Force Hanger and Museum - Oct 25: [A Glorious Celebration of America at 250](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/a-glorious-celebration-of-america-at-250/19935302/2026-10-25T16) at Calvary Presbyterian Church ($15- $25) - Nov 1: [BIG BROADWAY BINGO](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/big-broadway-bingo/20196858/2026-11-01T17) at Avila’s Historic 1929 ($125- $150) - Nov 4: [Medicare EXPO](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/medicare-expo/20172054/2026-11-04T10) at Janet Goeske Center - Nov 5: [LEAC Comedy and Magic Show](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/leac-comedy-and-magic-show/20122774/2026-11-05T18) at The Box Theater ($60) - Nov 5: [Les Miserables](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/les-miserables/20042115/2026-11-05T19) at Woodcrest Christian School ($15- $20) - Nov 7: [Art in the Gardens](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/art-in-the-gardens/18864698/2026-11-07T10) at UCR Botanic Gardens - Nov 14: [Riverside Veterans Parade](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/#/details/riverside-veterans-parade/19624354/2026-11-14T10) \- Downtown Riverside/Market St. 🗓️ [See More Events](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/calendar/)📝 [Submit Your Event](https://hub.cityspark.com/Event/Submission/Raincross?ref=raincrossgazette.com) --- 📸 [Submit a photo](http://raincrossgazette.com/submitphoto?ref=raincrossgazette.com) to be featured in our newsletters and social media accounts. 🏆 [Nominate a remarkable Riversider](https://rgnotw.paperform.co/?ref=raincrossgazette.com) as Neighbor of the Week.
