# UCR Breaks California Resident First-Year Admissions Record

36,585 California first-year students were admitted to UCR this fall, beating second-place Santa Cruz by over 1,500 Students. 44,328 first-year students were admitted overall for fall 2024, a 4,000 increase from the previous year.

The UC Riverside admissions record also revealed that 2,054 Black first-year students were admitted to the campus, the second-most in the UC system after Santa Cruz. 15,747 low-income first-year students and 16,370 first-generation first-year students were also admitted to UCR.

Over the past ten years, UCR has seen a significant increase in enrollment. In the fall of 2024, 26,426 students enrolled, an increase of more than 5,000 students over the previous decade.
