### Commission on Aging

The Commission on Aging meets on Monday, October 16, at 4:00 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1123664&GUID=CC2CC6C7-7147-479D-BD4F-DE965A7D9C32&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) for a presentation from the County on Curtailing Abuse Related to the Elderly and to build their priorities for the coming year.

### Park and Recreation Commission

The Park and Recreation Commission meets on Monday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1121594&GUID=4A61B9FA-D27D-4635-B5DE-C16930282F79&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) for a [presentation on urban ecology](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12346359&GUID=A0228D71-217E-4B6F-84D0-1C91D8996D6D&ref=raincrossgazette.com), a plan to [double the pickleball courts in town](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12346321&GUID=4F61DAB3-D762-4EBD-98A4-D3BAA84143B5&ref=raincrossgazette.com) by the end of 2025, and the [proposed renaming of El Dorado Park](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12346327&GUID=85088777-A862-4663-A470-9B88908E42B6&ref=raincrossgazette.com) to Tim Strack Park.

### City Council

City Council will meet in closed and open sessions on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1114213&GUID=63230A08-251E-4075-BA4C-CF12F86293A1&ref=raincrossgazette.com)).

During the afternoon session:

- Arc Strategies, the City’s contract State lobbying firm, will present an [update on the California Legislative 2023 Session](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12370797&GUID=35550AF7-35AC-44B6-811A-C8E9ACFBBB85&ref=raincrossgazette.com) to the Council.
- Council will review the latest proposed [retail cannabis business permit procedure guidelines](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12370727&GUID=04F54167-5300-4774-880C-E34D644ED5D1&ref=raincrossgazette.com) and consider the addition of up to five staff to support the City’s cannabis program.

During the evening session:

- Council will [consider approving a $2.3 million Design Build Services Agreement](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12350618&GUID=0B091607-0FBB-4FB0-A2C2-9B7B069801D4&ref=raincrossgazette.com) with Urban Habitat Landscape Contractors for the Arlington Park Pickleball Complex Project.

### Safety, Wellness, and Youth Committee

### Cultural Heritage Board

The Cultural Heritage Board meets on Wednesday, October 18, at 3:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1123177&GUID=6B5904E3-BA18-4C0E-AEDB-7EF508B757DE&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) and will select members for a subcommittee to assist the City's [development of Accessory Dwelling Unit design guidelines](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12351633&GUID=6D3F901B-8C94-4D28-A035-1279A1CE527B&ref=raincrossgazette.com).

### Economic Development, Placemaking, and Branding/ Marketing Committee

The Economic Development, Placemaking, and Branding/Marketing Committee meets on Thursday, October 12, at 3:00 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1120965&GUID=DADF5283-B48B-49A4-910E-1EEE6B1D17AB&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) to review the [Naming Rights Sponsorship Asset Inventory and Valuation Report](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12333165&GUID=B691F6A0-C4B1-4475-928D-82C4F3CE88B3&ref=raincrossgazette.com), which would allow the City to sell naming rights to public assets like the Convention Center and Main Library. The committee will also [review responses](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12351389&GUID=084B2F24-7CB1-491C-985D-E76C339D1E7B&ref=raincrossgazette.com) from the *Local Preference and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise procurement policy expansion survey* of 678 business owners.
