### City Council

City Council will meet in closed and open sessions on Tuesday, May 21, in an afternoon session at 1:00 p.m. and an evening session at 6:15 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1182399&GUID=968FDF12-D15B-4E52-B17E-688AA71317C6&ref=raincrossgazette.com)). The agenda includes:

- Selecting the official 2023 City Spirit Award nominee from the final [list of five options](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12918082&GUID=3E23AB02-B9CF-4F15-B2C2-62BA27305F57&ref=raincrossgazette.com), including artist Juan Navaro, the 2023 Riverside County Teacher of the Year Beth Schwandt, and Duane and Kelly Roberts.
- An extended workshop for the [City's 2024-2026 budget](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12918329&GUID=EFFC14A3-848D-4636-A332-9C69787A3E62&ref=raincrossgazette.com) in advance of its June 25 public hearing.
- Updating the Municipal Code to [increase the fine for violations of the City's Fireworks Laws](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12918330&GUID=E5D9B554-98E3-4F0B-AA42-0EF93B626932&ref=raincrossgazette.com) from $1,000 to $1,500.
- Approving a [$5.8 million contract](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12918254&GUID=8CCDF6D6-2926-4EB0-94F8-E21B69C07A81&ref=raincrossgazette.com) to resurface just over 6 miles of roads, remove the Main Street splash pad, and other minor street rehab projects.
- Approving a $925,000 contract for a [dredging project on the smaller of the two lakes at Fairmount Park](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12918294&GUID=11AF1F19-D92E-482B-8C9B-2952DD8D9594&ref=raincrossgazette.com), intended to decrease algae blooms and increase the lake's depth to accommodate the return of pedal boats.

### Commission on Aging

### Park and Recreation Commission

### Community Police Review Commission

The Community Police Review Commission will meet on Wednesday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1196075&GUID=D342A4DC-513D-42AF-81CC-E942072A4964&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) to continue reviewing an Officer-Involved Death case.

### Planning Commission

### Economic Development Committee
