### City Council

City Council will meet in closed and open sessions on Tuesday, July 1, at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1294498&GUID=AC41C7E7-E711-4A8C-9FE8-309B2F6D24E9&ref=raincrossgazette.com)). The agenda includes:

- A [presentation from the Police Department](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=14307182&GUID=0481EA19-B5ED-4E7E-9D0E-68211489B0E1&ref=raincrossgazette.com) on the new enhanced illegal fireworks enforcement program, which [uses drone technology and host liability](https://www.raincrossgazette.com/riverside-police-deploy-drones-for-fireworks-enforcement-with-1-500-fines/) to detect and cite violations.
- An update on the [Streamline Riverside Refresh](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=14307184&GUID=709811D2-D156-4B8D-96FC-4D1B5BC00D06&ref=raincrossgazette.com) effort to improve development services through technology upgrades and more predictable permitting and inspection processes.
- Consideration of authorizing the use of eminent domain to [acquire property for the Third Street railroad underpass project](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=14307185&GUID=8BF7675D-E3A8-496D-89F6-2B5596D409E1&ref=raincrossgazette.com) if the current purchase agreement fails to close on schedule.
- Considering a $3.3 million contract amendment with Holt Architects to [advance the design of a new downtown police headquarters](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=14325583&GUID=294A3396-FD94-464A-9102-7C761BFE9D46&ref=raincrossgazette.com) that would replace the current 1963 facility for an estimated $62 million.
