### City Council

City Council will meet in closed and open sessions on Tuesday, July 16, in afternoon sessions at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. and an evening session at 6:15 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1208048&GUID=4BD7F3C1-7553-496C-AD3C-5E72DA3D9AAC&ref=raincrossgazette.com)). The agendas include:

- Authorizing the $2.3 million [purchase of a new fire truck](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13085093&GUID=860B903B-4FA7-449D-A747-3DD71B41EAA1&ref=raincrossgazette.com).
- Authorizing the "Five Points Neighborhood Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project '' to upgrade crosswalks at La Sierra & Hole's intersection, construct a 9,000 sq ft outdoor plaza, and construct 1.5 miles of sidewalk with $6.525 million in CalTrans funding and $709,000 of City funds.
- Authorizing [$4.8 million in lease agreements](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13085091&GUID=69D5C777-B504-4901-BD00-0F5B90AB2603&ref=raincrossgazette.com) for five service trucks, six dump trucks, and several other vehicles.
- Designating 2365 Eleventh St, the home place of Miné Okubo, an [official City Landmark](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13085087&GUID=866DF135-53FD-40D1-B386-F1B8F9C4432D&ref=raincrossgazette.com). The Okobus were sent to internment camps in 1942, and in 1946, Miné published the first book telling of life in the camps by an internee and went on to become a professional artist.
- Reviewing a $1.75 million [proposal for architectural design](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13085103&GUID=83490B66-4DBD-49C1-97DA-18D6C4B5FFF1&ref=raincrossgazette.com) services for the Cesar Chavez Center Renovation Project.
- Awarding a $7.8 million ARPA-funded contract for designing and building [a new gymnasium at Bordwell Park](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13085094&GUID=A47954B2-B83B-4FE4-B4C8-64DA81AADEE9&ref=raincrossgazette.com).
- Authorizing $900,000 over five years for [creating a "Real Time Crime Center"](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13086297&GUID=5D9777AA-CC5E-485A-96A0-1634ABC3ED8A&ref=raincrossgazette.com) managed by RPD.

### Park and Recreation Commission

The Park and Recreation Commission meets on Monday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1205750&GUID=7F137393-8819-40AB-8282-3194C39015D4&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) for regular business.

### Safety, Wellness, and Youth Committee

The Safety, Wellness, and Youth Committee meets on Wednesday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1208159&GUID=DC0C341F-4C08-40CD-B6CC-3283568C0C77&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) to learn about a "[Shopping Cart Retrieval Program](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13071593&GUID=3D74E060-9893-41C0-B599-63BB708C8E19&ref=raincrossgazette.com)" proposed by the Public Works department.

### Cultural Heritage Board

The Cultural Heritage Board meets on Wednesday, July 17, at 3:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1208155&GUID=0485397C-1D50-4B9F-B8F6-D9A50B2A4E02&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) for a quarterly report on Historic Preservation Activity and to review a proposal to construct a 45,207 square-foot four-story multifamily residential development [on the site of the former Winston Tire Store Building](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13071711&GUID=F2CAC82C-BD38-4AD2-97CE-9B297D5C2747&ref=raincrossgazette.com) on the corner of Eleventh and Market streets.

### Planning Commission

The Planning Commission meets on Thursday, July 18, at 9:00 a.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1206716&GUID=2A938FCD-8AEC-4245-973B-38566A814AA8&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) to hear proposals for a [new 347-unit housing project](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13092060&GUID=33B371A8-D61F-4A4A-92E8-795A31D24CF3&ref=raincrossgazette.com) on the old K-mart site in Mission Grove, a [new Ono Hawaiian BBQ restaurant](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13092257&GUID=E4DD6ADB-267A-4B85-8F68-8AD048F76CAF&ref=raincrossgazette.com) at the corner of Magnolia and La Sierra, and a [149-unit condo development](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=13092415&GUID=65FAE76E-D23D-4D17-BE61-914036DE3657&ref=raincrossgazette.com) where Van Buren Blvd. meets the 91 freeway.
