### Housing and Homelessness Committee

The Housing and Homelessness Committee meets on Monday, January 22, at 3:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1161538&GUID=C4CD2FA0-CFCE-4565-A880-548358E3C85B&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) for a [presentation from LifeArk](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12578256&GUID=DA446D7F-8B12-43B8-A180-55AC57F3A156&ref=raincrossgazette.com), an LA-based company that reuses single-use plastics to manufacture affordable housing projects as low as $63,000 per unit, and an update on other [housing projects in the development pipeline](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12578255&GUID=57BEA50A-D9FC-4945-82FE-BB530BF33B70&ref=raincrossgazette.com).

### Board of Public Utilities

The Board of Public Utilities meets on Monday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1160237&GUID=320972BE-D5AA-4729-89F7-E1E3BC840CF7&ref=raincrossgazette.com)) to hold a public hearing before recommending City Council approves the [renewal of a water conservation surcharge](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12577988&GUID=3D41B65B-2AB4-4B42-BA1E-396D8ECC3FC9&ref=raincrossgazette.com).

### City Council

City Council will meet in closed and open sessions on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in two afternoon sessions at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and an evening session at 6:15 p.m. ([agenda](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=A&ID=1162798&GUID=9E34455B-4E77-4BD3-9E05-3B8A40C8C653&ref=raincrossgazette.com)). The agenda includes:

- A decision on Mayor and Councilmember compensation. A 5% raise was approved last January; Council can leave that alone or convene a Charter Review Committee to explore options for further increases to compensation.
- Considering assigning $1,000,000 of ARPA funds to the Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation toward the 65-unit affordable housing project currently under construction on Chicago Ave at Seventh St.
- Considering [numerous amendments to Title 20 of the City's municipal code](https://riversideca.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=12582830&GUID=F7A17BD7-1A10-4135-8594-7B1AC01081ED&ref=raincrossgazette.com), one of which would allow properties to be designated as of historic significance without owner consent.
