Patrick Maloney, one of six candidates for the Ward 1 city council seat, announced his disqualification from the race in an email to his supporters Thursday evening, December 14, 2023.

"Regrettably, I have an important update to share. Despite our collective efforts, a number of the signatures we gathered for my candidacy were invalidated, leaving us short of the required number to qualify for the ballot. This means that I will not be able to run in the upcoming election.While this news is disappointing, our journey and the conversations we sparked about the future of Riverside have been invaluable," Maloney said.
