La Sierra University's Brandstater Gallery is hosting a collection of biblical movie posters documenting over 100 years of material. The exhibition is part of a [larger collection](https://dspt.edu/biblical-movie-poster-collection?ref=raincrossgazette.com) of Fr. Michael Morris, Art Historian at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology. The genre, colloquially known as 'Sword and Sandal,' was, at one time, among the most popular film genres. The posters depict some of the biggest films and stars of the twentieth century. A Spanish poster featuring Yul Brenner and Charlton Heston in "Los Diez Mandaientos" is among the collection's most recognizable content.

Tim Musso, Gallery Director, told me a bit about the collection. "I am excited to host this incredible collection of film posters. This collection provides a timeline of the evolution of illustration, typography, photography, and printing technology over a hundred years." He continues, "Because each poster tells a complex story in just one image, it is a perfect collection for students and visitors alike to study the principles and elements of design and visual storytelling.'"
